SurrenderOnline offers high quality, industry standards
compliant cabinets consistently across all sites.
Dedicated, managed
and collocated servers are housed in standard 19inch
racks though shelves can be supplied for large format
non-rack
mount equipment. All facilities are build to Australian
Standard AS2834.
Structural Notes
The facility occupies a 1-story industrial warehouse
structure with mezzanine and plant room located
8km from the Central
Business District. Facility is 6,900 sq. metres.
Power Systems
Each SurrenderOnline facility receives diverse power feeds
from diverse power grids from the local power company. SurrenderOnline
supports both redundant AC and DC power using parallel UPS
systems, full battery back up, and generator back up, all
in N+1 configuration and exclusive of each building’s
infrastructure.
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is built
on a multi-level N+1 configuration to achieve 99.999% uptime.
Power is supplied
by a power distribution unit (PDU) - each PDU is connected
to two UPS plants.
The data centre is backed up by redundant generators
in N+1 configuration. Onsite fuel supply allows for continuous
operations
up to 72 hours.
Security
SurrenderOnline has implemented the following security
measures that require multiple levels of authentication
and authorisation:
a. Onsite security guard patrols the site 24/7.
b. The facility is monitored by CCTV Surveillance system
c. Key access areas are controlled by biometric hand
scanners and/or secure access cards.
d. Visitors are required to check in first with the
security guard. Valid identification is required.
e. All activities on premises are logged.
The colocation area is physically separate from the rest
of the data centre. Customers must pass through the security
checkpoint prior to entering the colocation area. To
assist in access control, customers and vendors are issued
Equinix
Photo IDs and private PINs, which, when used in conjunction
with individual biometric hand geometry scans, man-traps,
and CCTV surveillance, provide fail-safe authentication.
Fire Suppression
Equinix’s data centres are designed with multiple levels
of fire detection and fire suppression systems. The VESDA
early warning and detection system is deployed in the Sydney
facility in conjunction with other fire suppression systems
for maximum protection against fire.
VESDA
Equinix utilises the Very Early Smoke Detection and Alarm
System (VESDA) augmented by point detection. VESDA provides
the earliest warning of a potential fire emergency by detecting
the initial, pre-combustion stage of smoke.
Dry-Pipe Water Sprinkler System
In areas that prohibit non-water based (gas) systems, actual
fire suppression is achieved via a zoned, pre-action, dry-pipe
sprinkler system. These are exclusively deployed in the Equinix
Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Singapore, and Sydney data centres.
The sprinkler system is zoned into sections within the data
centres. Zoning allows for accurate deployment of the water
thus reducing the collateral damage to surrounding equipment.
HVAC Systems
Equinix's state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, and cooling
(HVAC) systems comply with the following design parameters;
• Mechanical equipment allowance of 750 watts per
square meter
• Temperature maintained at 22 Degrees C (71.6 Fahrenheit)
+/-3 Deg C in the colocation/technical spaces and all
electrical plant rooms.
• Humidity controlled at 50% +/- 20%
Equinix HVAC systems comply with N+1 specifications and
include a centralised chilled water plant with multiple
redundant chillers piped in parallel ensuring continuous
reliability and satisfying all cooling requirements.
